I wouldn't call myself a sports fan (though I do play fantasy football) but I just absolutely love the Olympics. I was glued to the TV for the Athens summer games last year, and am already excited for the drivably close-by 2010 games in Vancouver BC.
Needless to say, I've been following the 2012 campaigns for months now. Like all good Olympics fans, I had to pick a favorite. As a native New Yorker, I should have sided with the home team, but Paris won my vote instead. Why? Paris had the coolest graphic. Nowhere near as cool as Vancouver's, but cooler by far than all the other 2012ers.
But London it is. And good for London, whose graphic is lame but whose spirit more than makes up for it. Besides, since I jumped thru a "back the bid" counter at Heathrow this Christmas, now I get to feel like I helped fire up the torch for London.
Only 7 months to Turin! (But don't get me started on the marshmallow twins...)

You play fantasy football!!?? What do you know about fantasy football? Do you research the players or do you just pick blindly?
And I totally want to visit Vancouver sometime, but not during the Olympics, because, craaaaaaazy!
No I do NOT pick blindly, thank you very much! I know I don't talk about it often, but I do indeed pay attention to, understand, and enjoy watching football.
If you're all "since WHEN?" let me explain: when Matt & I got together, his extreme fandom manifested itself every weekend and I quickly realized I could either be a football widow or become a fan, too. So I did. A real one. As in watching both Sunday games AND Monday night, every week. As in screaming "JACKED UP!" along with the ESPN guys when they do that segment on who got hit the hardest last week. As in knowing the difference between Tiki and Ronde Barber.
So, yes. Believe it or not, I am a football fan. I don't own any paraphernalia though, so it hasn't gone too far. Yet...
Kate-
Actually, the first time she did pick blindly. She went with the "I've heard of him" strategy for drafting..... she has gotten a lot better though...
OK, I just heard today that they are removing baseball and softball from the summer games starting in 2012. I am shocked! And appalled! I mean, granted it's in the winter, but curling is an Olympic sport for crying out loud! Not to mention the BIATHALON! Come on!
