As you all know (because since you care what a librarian has to say, you obviously pay attention to things like this) Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince arrives on Saturday.
Needless to say, I can't wait. Neither can a lot of people, including a surprisingly varied cross-section of the people who come to the library. My absolute favorite part of my job this summer is getting to indulge in chatty geek fests about Harry Potter.
So much intrigue (Who d'ya think's gonna die?), so much to live up to (I didn't like Five as much as Four -- But Five's so great! He's so perfectly fifteen and snarky and awkward!), so much speculation (If Dumbledore's on the cover he's gotta live thru the whole book, right?)
And, of course, so many distractions from work, unless it's your job to know all about this stuff and you can call spending three hours on JK's website work-related. Man, I'm lucky.
Indulge your own Potter-mania:
JK Rowling 's official site will keep you busy 'til the book comes out.
Mugglenet gets a bit pop-up-y, but it's a mecca of minutiae.
The Harry Potter Lexicon is my favorite, mainly for the who's who.
The Leaky Cauldron has a fan forum and is a fave haunt of Jo herself.
Have fun wasting the rest of the work week, and get ready to be blown away by book 6!

As Kate pointed out - isn't Old
Yeller on the cover of that book? ;)
And I KNOW that Old Dan and Little Anne are on the cover of "Where the Red Fern Grows".
Oh my god, I'm a geek.
