I've been reading Jared Diamond's mind-blowing Guns, Germs and Steel, which synthesizes the entirety of human history into pithy nuggets of brilliance that knock your socks off.
I'm so into this book that I haven't turned on the TV much lately, but last night I watched the History Channel's Ape to Man, a special on (wouldn't you know it) human evolution that reenacts all of the major fossil discoveries of human ancestors.
A few resources for finding out more about these not-quite-ape, not-yet-human creatures:
- Glasgow's Hunterian Museum online tour of Hominid evolution.
- The Smithsonian's Hall of Human Ancestors.
- Minnesota State U's Emuseum exhibit on Human Evolution.

Maybe I did miss the end... but it was still a great show!
