Small world

Last night I went to see my friend Tara's thesis exhibition. She's finishing a Master's in Architecture. The exhibition was great -- room after room of intricate models and compelling posters and cutting-edge design. Lots of friends and family were milling about, congratulating the exhausted but exhilarated almost-official architects.

One of Tara's architecture buddies, Wendy, was there with her sister. I'd met Wendy several times and she always reminded me of someone .... turns out she reminded me of her sister! Wendy's sister Laura & I went to college together. We reminisced quite happily about people we knew in common, life in the five years since college, and the smallness of the world.

And then the College Alumni Magazine came in the mail today. Another long-lost friend, Tim, was featured prominently in our class notes. Last I heard from Tim, he was in California learning how to be a clown. He's still a clown, but for a cause: Clowns Without Borders. No kidding! Read Tim's journal from his trip to South Africa.
