I have long feared being outed for my utter ignorance of world geography. The fact that I was never actually taught geography is no excuse, and the fact that I've been able to map all 50 US states since seventh grade is no consolation. I just flat out don't know where the majority of the world's countries are or what they look like on a map, and I've never bother to learn.
Finally deciding to put an end to this ridiculously American character flaw of mine, I tried some online geography quizzes. Oh brother, it's worse than I thought. I only knew 35% of Europe, 70% of Asia, and I didn't even try Africa.
I have shamed myself into studying maps until I can ace these quizzes:
How'd you do?

I only goofed around on two of them... But I got pretty high scores...
You should start reading the NY Times everyday... That's my way of staying abreast.
Although... I'll admit... Most of my knowledge comes from 8th grade Geography, and stuff's CHANGED since then... All the new countries in the former USSR and Africa, and even Europe really made me think.
It was much easier in the old days with really big conglomerations of countries being under one government...
Bring back Communism, I say... And dicatorships... And stuff.... Geography was so much easier back in those days!
